Beat the Winter Blues

Beat the Winter Blues with Houseplants

It’s a proven fact that the months of January, February and March have the potential to bring even the happiest people down. The hustle and bustle of the winter holiday season has ended, out-of-town guests have returned home, and the bills are starting to pile up from all the generous gifts you gave out when the spirit of the season had you feeling rich. Not to mention, the dark, dreary, and cold weather we are experiencing. With that said, we’re here to remind you of all the benefits that houseplants have to offer. Not only are they pretty to look at but plants and flowers can boost your mood and make you feel happy!

Having indoor plants may help you reduce the stress level and bring positive energy with their pleasant odor. For example, plants like Lavender and rosemary can decrease your anxious feelings through their sweet, relaxing aromas. Additionally, Basil contains a compound called linalool that is helpful to improve your mood. The plant is also rich in anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to protect you from several bacteria. English Ivy is another great plant as it works as a natural air purifier and can help you feel better. Aloe Vera, Peace Lilies, and Snake Plants are wonderful too. The Snake Plant is an evergreen with tall sword-shaped leaves that thrive in dry conditions and indoor temperatures that range from 40-80 degrees. Afterall, it’s a proven fact that springtime weather is a huge mood booster. So it makes sense, decorating with houseplants can capture the spirit of spring all year round.
