Green Equipment

The Morano Group LLC is going green.

As we reported earlier on our blog, the group – which includes Morano Landscape in Mamaroneck, Ridgeway Garden Center in White Plains and Weaver Gardens in Larchmont –will begin using an electric, lithium battery-operated fleet of mowers and blowers March 15.

Morano Group first fully electric mowing team launches Spring 2022.

For Val Morano Sagliocco, president and CEO of The Morano Group, necessity has become the mother of invention as more states and municipalities look to eliminate carbon emissions and especially noise pollution by requiring landscapers and homeowners to use zero-emission blowers and mowers. A proposed amendment to New York state’s energy laws would outlaw gas blowers and mowers – which in general have more power and take less time to use but are noisier – by 2027.

Battery Powered Mower. Zero Emissions, quiet, and powerful.

Some places restrict the use of gas-powered equipment to certain cleanup periods. In White Plains, for instance, you may use a gas blower only from March 15 to May 14 and Oct.1 toDec.15 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends. Even then, its noise level must be below 70 decibels.

Thus, green technology in landscaping and hardscaping is becoming increasingly important, Morano says, and he wants the company to be at the forefront of it. Morano trucks will be equipped with recharging devices while Ridgeway Garden Center will have solar panels to enhance its energy capabilities.
