Time to let your tree roots breathe
Time to let your tree roots breathe
Winter 2023 exited the same way it came in – brilliant and cold. And while the hard season was not without its challenges, particularly at the end – well, it had to be a little bit difficult, didn’t it? – it eased its relatively gentle grip at 5:24 p.m. Monday, March 20.
Now it’s on to spring and a season that, while softer, is not without its own obstacles. As you begin your spring cleanup, you might want to think about tree-root collar excavation – having specialists such as the Morano Group remove soil and mulch until the tree flare (the part of the roots attached to the lower trunk) is exposed.
Why do this? Spring showers may bring flowers, but excessive wetness also brings root rot, insect infestation, trunk warping and girdling roots that rise to strangle the trunk. Root collar excavation enables you and the arborist to see what’s what and your trees to take in nourishment more easily.
People aren’t the only ones who need to shed their winter clothes and exhale.
It’s time to let your trees lighten up, too.
